popular nowadays. Breast Implant is a part of this cosmetic surgery. The
statistics from American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) shows that
breast implant is the second most popular and opted treatment in the field of cosmetic
surgery, right after liposuction surgery. Breast Implantation procedure has
been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Breast Augmentation
helps in enlarging the breast size of the women. Breast Implant is a medical
procedure by which the breast is enhanced or reconstructed according to the
wish of a woman. Several types of breast implant procedures are available. Like
saline implant, silicone implant and alternative composition implants.FDA has
approved the first two options; that is, silicone implant and saline implant.
Both saline and silicone breast implant uses an elastomer silicone shell. The
former contains saline solution in it which is filled during the operation and
the latter contains silicone gel which is thick and sticky in nature. Specific
care should be taken after breast implant surgery. The best opted method for
breast implantation is the silicone gel filled implant.
Though
silicone based implants was banned during the 1990’s, due to various complain
from the patients like connective tissue diseases, cancer and so on. During
that time saline implants gained a huge momentum. The FDA department held
several meetings with the manufacturers of the implants and came to a
conclusion that not all silicone based implants will be approved; only those
which follow the directives of the FDA will be approved for breast augmentation
of women aged between 22 yrs of age.
The implants
can be placed in two ways. Following are the two options by which the implants
can be placed; one is Sub-glandular Placement and the other is Sub-muscular
Placement. In Sub-glandular breast, the implant placement the implant is placed
just above the muscle but below the breast gland. In Sub-muscular breast
implant, the implant is placed just behind the pectoral muscle.
